Volunteering
The main areas of assistance required are:
Monetary donations (we accept visa, master card and amex or you can direct deposit into our account BSB 306 095 A/C 014251
- Once off donations
- Regular monthly donations
- Bring us your change jar – you’d be amazed at how much is in there
- Sponsoring or supporting a special event or program of interest to you
- Ring for a Cash and Carry card – this card will allow you to shop at Carry and Carry and get the benefits of their discounted prices whilst making a donation based on the dollar amount spent (this is part of their community giving program)
- Put a spare change tin at your cash register of your business (ring us to arrange an official tin)
- We are community partners with United Way – organise for your workplace to participant in a workplace giving program through United Way and nominate Friends of Autism as the beneficiary
- Request in your will
Goods and services we can either auction, raffle or use to reduce our operating costs, no donation is too big or small
- Wine for our yearly wine wall
- Jewellery for our major raffle or auction at the gala ball
- Catering for our smaller events
- Any item that can be auction at our gala ball (items can be packaged together – just use your imagination – the ball is normally in November each year and a great opportunity to buy Christmas presents and support a charity at the same time – so anything goes)
- Vouchers for anything we can use in raffles
- Sports memorabilia or equipment
- Computer or electrical equipment
- Gift baskets (or items we can use to package together for gift baskets)
- Stationery we can use on a daily basis
- New or second hand toys for our library
Volunteering your time
- Assisting with group sessions
- Canvassing for donations of goods for auction or raffle (even if you only have time or contacts for one or two things this is a big help)
- Cleaning toys and helping with the toy and information library functions
- Assisting in selling tickets for events and raffles
- Being a member of our Fundraising Committee
Attending and supporting our events
- Gala Ball
- Movie nights
- Cricket day
- Girls night out
Organising your own fundraising event
- Having a dinner party at home and asking your guests to make a donation to FOA equal to what they would have spent having a night out
- At your next birthday party put on the invitations that you don’t want a present but would appreciate a donation to Friends of Autism
- Losing weight – ask your family and friends to sponsor you by the kilo as a donation to Friends of Autism – this will keep you motivated and accountable whilst improving your health and helping others
- Ask all your friends to bring their change jar the next time they see you (people are usually shocked by how much is in there)
- Have a garage sale of all your unwanted items
- Organise a treasure hunt / car rally with your friends at charge them $25 as a donation
- Casual dress day for a gold coin donation at work or school
